Let’s start at the very beginning… Once upon a sweet shop, imagine a quintessential Surrey village, mix with a spoonful of Shere inspiration… Now hold your breath and make a wish… Welcome to a world of pure imagination and Truly Scrumptious Delights.
The vision was for a sweet shop like no other ~ evocative of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Truly Scrumptious Toots Sweets scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ~ a sweet mini emporium of sheer delight for young and old alike, as much for the locals as for the many visitors which the quintessentially English Surrey village of Shere attracts. Shere Delights, set beside the chocolate box scene of the banks of the Tillingbourne River, welcomed its very first customers (and just a few ducks) in March 2013.
Five sweet years later, Godalming Delights opened as the ‘bigger brother’ to Shere Delights and a Truly Scrumptious sensation in Godalming’s Church Street at the heart of this historic coaching and market town traversing the River Wey.
Gloss white shelving, glass jars and bold ‘Paul Smith’ style candy stripes with script typography mixed with Gill Sans for clarity established a delightfully enticing setting for the extremely good artisan ice creams, simply exquisite chocolate and confectionery gifts and an ever abundant and forever replenished selection of retro sweeties, roasted bean Illy coffees, Brew Teas to go, velvety smooth hot chocolates and indulgent melt in the mouth hot Belgian waffles… All wonderfully curated and carefully hand selected for their natural provenance, best of ingredients, ethical sourcing and brand heritage.
Results. Shere Delights has become a sugar dusted attraction for Shere and Godalming Delights is very much in the hearts and minds of its local community. The very essence of childhood delight and all things Truly Scrumptious!
